Last summer we went to Houston, Texas where our friends took us to our first-ever SEAFOOD BOIL!
Our first crawfish & shrimp boil
Originally from Louisiana, Cajun crab boils, crawfish boils or now seafood boils have become so popular we now have them all the way in Hawaii! On this particular night we visited a place called LA Fishermans with friends who swear it’s one of the best in Houston. The kids got excited as we entered and saw a very large fish tank, they knew we were having seafood for the evening.
The place was quite busy for a Tuesday night…
So basically you choose the type of seafood you want, the type of sauce (spicy or garlic, etc) and any extras. Both Lou Lou and Jaf wanted mussels and shrimp while we adults went for craw fish and crab with corn on the cob, potatoes and sausages on the side. You should have seen the look on the kids face when the food arrived and was placed (or dumped) in front of them.
You can see it in her eyes… get into my belly!!
Our sides 🙂
Lou Lou and her bestie enjoying crab legs that were supposed to be for the adults!
The best part about this meal is that we all get to get to eat with their hands! Sharing a meal together and getting our hands messy truly was the best part of the entire evening. Thankfully you are given aprons!
When it was all over… Nothing was left but a whole lotta mess!
Seafood boils are very popular in the summer and can be enjoyed by families indoors or out. If you’re feeling adventurous this week purchase some seafood tools such as shell crackers and picks and try this recipe at home with your family or/and friends. The kids will love it!
Here’s a simple recipe with step-by-step instructions on how to do a simple Seafood Boil at home.
Try adding more seasoning such as garlic salt and loads of butter to the recipe like we do.
Oh!! Don’t forget the bottles of hot sauce and some fresh lemonade.
Enjoy!
