Every day millions of people post photos on Instagram and Facebook of FOOD. Many write about their dining experiences in their blogs, many visit restaurants and give their constructive feedback on review websites. All of them include glorious pictures of food they are about to eat or have eaten. It’s a very empowering experience, being a “foodie”.
However, majority of us “foodies” never think about how lucky we really are.
It’s hard to sleep at night knowing that as we post pictures of our dinner that some child goes hungry. No child should die from a cause we can prevent. Absolutely not! Imagine – if all of these “foodies” put 1% of the money they spend on dining out towards a cause to fight hunger, how powerful that would be? How much change could happen overnight? I wonder…
When we first started our blog, we had no idea how vain we had become with respect to our access to food. Two months into our blogging we have now actively joined World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty.
World Vision works in nearly 100 countries, serving all people, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender and provide emergency assistance to children and families affected by natural disasters and civil conflict, work with communities to develop long-term solutions to alleviate poverty, and advocate for justice on behalf of the poor.
Our family created this blog to educate parents on kid-friendly foods from around the world and culinary world-schooling, but now we are also advocates to speak out to help fight hunger, poverty, and disease. We are sponsors of 4 children and urge you to Sponsor a Child, you will feel so good about yourself.
