Our Labor Day weekend was full of fun with a family reunion on Saturday – LouLou and Jaf hung out with all their cousins, aunties & uncles. They learned about their family ancestry, and more importantly, all about the traditional luau foods and how to prepare them.

Rainy days call for activity time!
With the threat of Hurricane Jimena, we spent a rainy Sunday indoors, coloring with our cousins. We were lucky the rain didn’t extend into Monday because our friends invited us over to use their new outdoor pizza oven!

Homemade pizza ready to bake
The kids always enjoy making their own pizzas; it’s a great family activity and everyone ends up with their own pizza variation. There’s really nothing like a homemade pizza, especially when making it in a wood-burning oven. The taste cannot be beat – it reminded us of the pizza we had in Italy.
While there are some great pre-made frozen pizza crusts you can buy at the store, we sometimes like to make our own. If you’re a fan of thin crusts, Marie of Feeling Foodish has a great NY style pizza dough recipe; the dough can also be frozen, which is what we often end up doing.
